It's day number Jeff Gordon (24) of the lockdown.shelter-in-place, whatever you want to call it. Hopefully we don't have another Jimmy Johnson days (48) left.

Yesterday, I had a caller named Melody call me to thank me for going to work everyday to try to entertain everyone in the audience. While I appreciate the comments, I'm just doing my job. The health workers and those on the frontline are the real heroes. I'm trying to avoid this invisible enemy. That being said I traded a couple messages with my friend Zacky Vengeance from Avenged Sevenfold. I told him we were still live on the air to which he responded "Glad you guys are able to stay on air. People need you.". I hope in a small way, I'm helping people feel a little bit of normalcy in these very strange times.

I was going to save this, but since I brought up Avenged Sevenfold, I thought I'd share the interview I did with James Hetfield before the Comerica Park show with Avenged (who had to cut their set short because of impending weather, which never came) and Volbeat from 2017.

James is one of my favorite guys in the rock world. He's so easy to talk to. In the future I'll pass along the funny story of the first time I met him. In the meantime, enjoy this....

You can also check out photos from Metallica's set later that night below!

Meltdown started on the mighty WRIF on the evening of Halloween, 1995. Technically, his first on-air shift was the morning of November 1st. Moving to the Motor City from Buffalo, N.Y., he has built a career and family. Over his almost three-decade stint at RIFF, he's had the privilege to work with some of the biggest personalities in Detroit radio history. He boasts of being just the second-afternoon drive jock in the station's illustrious 53-year history. Along with his love for rock music and attending concerts, he's also an avid Harley-Davidson enthusiast and hockey player. He plays year-round and manages to squeeze in a few charity games throughout the year. Meltdown writes about the Detroit Red Wings, rock music, and Detroit concert venues.
