March 26, 1997: A day no Detroit Red Wings fan will ever forget. Today marks 23 years since the big fight at Joe Louis Arena between the Detroit Red Wings and Colorado Avalanche. You know, the one when Darren McCarty got sweet revenge on Claude Lemieux for the dirty hit on Kris Drapper the year prior. For most Red Wings fans we love to re-live this moment which you can do below. After 23 years some still wonder if this fight or rivalry between these two teams would have ever happen if Lemieux would have just apologized. We will never know but at least we have this great Detroit sports moment to be thankful for! Happy Turtle Day Detroit!
