‘Flat-Earth’ Supporting Daredevil Mike Hughes Died in a Rocket Crash
(SHOCKING CONTENT WARNING-Some may find the video inside disturbing) 64-year-old daredevil “MAD MIKE” HUGHES died on Saturday when his homemade rocket crashed outside Barstow, California.
He’d been building steam-powered rockets for a while, and was in the news because he claimed he wanted to prove the Earth was flat. But now at least one of his people says it was just to get press, and he wasn’t really a flat-Earther.
A crew from the Science Channel was there filming it for a show called “Homemade Astronauts”. It looks like there was a major malfunction with his parachute and back-up chutes. So the rocket came straight back down and crashed into the desert.
Mad Mike Hughes just launched himself in a self-made steam-powered rocket and crash landed. Very likely did not survive. #MadMike #MadMikeHughes pic.twitter.com/svtviTEi8f
