A man in Michigan purchased a couch from a thrift store and found a large sum of cash in one of the cushions. $43,170 to be exact. He was within his rights to keep all the money, but instead he contacted the owner, who found the family that made the donation, and he gave it all back to them.

More than $40,000 found inside couch purchased from thrift store

Jan. 17 (UPI) -- A Michigan man who noticed something amiss about the couch he bought from a thrift store found more than $40,000 stashed inside a cushion. Howard Kirby said he bought the couch from the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Owosso and used it in his man cave for a few weeks before deciding to investigate why the foot cushion was unusually firm.
