A 1936 Newsreel About the “New” Dial Telephone
This might help explain why your grandparents can’t figure out how to use that gosh darn smart phone. Back in 1936 they needed an AT&T newsreel to tell them how to operate the “new” dial telephone.
It features a young girl doing the demonstration as an announcer walks you through it. He explains in great detail how to recognize a dial tone, a ringing signal, and a busy signal. He even tells you how to dial each numeral.
