Company Markets Beer Based on Halloween Cereals
While most types of cereals aren’t considered seasonal, General Mills rakes in a lot of extra cash this time every year with its line of Halloween-themed monster cereals that includes Count Chocula, Frankenberry and Boo Berry.
Now a Texas company is hoping to find the same level of success by releasing rip-offs of the spooky cereals — only in beer form. The Ingenious brewery has released four new types of flavored beer, each of which bears a suspiciously close resemblance to one of the monster-endorsed cereals. The new beers include Stout Chocula, FrankenFroYo, Boo Berry Fluff and Yummy Mummy.
“Right now, we are doing our monster cereal series of beers and a lot of them stem from our childhood and our adult experiences,” says Michael Broderick, co-owner of Ingenious. While Broderick says sales of the flavored beer have been good, there’s no word on whether General Mills’ lawyers have expressed any interest.
