Meltdown Talks With Tiger Great Lance Parrish
Meltdown had a chance to catch up with Lance Parrish ahead of this weekend’s Tiger games. The list of the festivities is below.

Friday, June 28 vs. Washington Nationals – First pitch 7:10 p.m. / Gates open 5:30 p.m.
- The first 10,000 fans will receive a Lou Whitaker and Lance Parrish Mini Bat, courtesy of Frito-Lay.
- The Detroit Tigers 1984 World Series Champions 35th Anniversary Celebration
- Pregame Fan Q & A with Alan Trammel and Lou Whitaker – The Tigers will host a pregame fan Q & A session on the concourse featuring 1984 World Series Championship teammates Alan Trammel and Lou Whitaker. The Q & A will begin at 6:00 p.m. outside of the Big Cat Court, and the event will be carried live on the Comerica Park Scoreboard.
- Friday Night Fireworks are presented by Pepsi and are weather permitting. Pepsi Pop Up to the Plate will take place on the field between the end of the game and the start of fireworks.
Saturday, June 29 vs. Washington Nationals – First pitch 4:10 p.m. / Gates open 2:00 p.m.
- The first 10,000 fans will receive a Sparky Anderson Bobblehead, courtesy of Cooper Tires.
- The Detroit Tigers 1984 World Series Champions 35th Anniversary Celebration
- 1984 Team Fan Q & A – The Tigers will host a fan Q & A session on the concourse featuring all the participating members of the 1984 World Series Championship Team. The Q & A will begin at 2:30 p.m. outside of the Big Cat Court, and the event will be carried live on the Comerica Park Scoreboard.
- On-Field Pregame Ceremony – Following the Fan Q & A, there will be a pregame on-field ceremony honoring all players in attendance. Each 1984 player and member of the coaching staff will be introduced on the field individually and recognized for their accomplishments. At the end of the ceremony, the National Anthem will be performed by the University of Michigan Men’s Glee Club. Fans are encouraged to be in their seats by 3:30 p.m.
Meltdown started on the mighty WRIF on the evening of Halloween, 1995. Technically, his first on-air shift was the morning of November 1st. Moving to the Motor City from Buffalo, N.Y., he has built a career and family. Over his almost three-decade stint at RIFF, he's had the privilege to work with some of the biggest personalities in Detroit radio history. He boasts of being just the second-afternoon drive jock in the station's illustrious 53-year history.
Along with his love for rock music and attending concerts, he's also an avid Harley-Davidson enthusiast and hockey player. He plays year-round and manages to squeeze in a few charity games throughout the year. Meltdown writes about the Detroit Red Wings, rock music, and Detroit concert venues.
