The man had his entire home loaded with trip wires and booby traps. When he went out to feed squirrels in his yard he tripped one of the booby traps and shot himself in the arm with a shotgun. A responding officer applied a tourniquet to the man's arm to stop the bleeding until EMS showed up and rushed him to the ER.
