The robotic finger can do a number of things like wriggle your phone across a desk, can be activated and operated remotely, give you a comforting pat on the wrist/hand, and well...we're not sure what else besides those things. The consensus across the internet is that it's "creepy."
The inventor said it was his way to bring the sense of touch into a human-computer interface.
