PORT-AU-PRINCE, HAITI – FEBRUARY 17: A broken statue lies on the grounds of the Presidential Palace on February 17, 2010 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck at 4:53pm on January 12, killing more than 200,000 people and leaving the nation’s capitol in ruins. The video footage shows two children playing around the statue while the parents were in another room of the community center attending a wedding reception. Eventually one of the kids hugs the statue causing it to fall over and break.
The art piece was on loan to the community center and the $132,000 is to cover the cost of the sculpture. Should they be responsible?
