Red Hot Chili PeppersChad Smith celebrates his birthday today (October 25), and while it would be easy (and hilarious) to look back at his hijinks with Will Ferrell, we’re going to look to his appearance in the roadie documentary Miles To Go Before I Sleep.

Released on Showtime in conjunction with the prematurely canceled series Roadies, Miles To Go Before I Sleep follows the day-to-day life of actual roadies and features commentary from various rockers including Smith.

To the shock of no one, Smith brings his unique brand of passion and ridiculousness to the doc, especially during his story about a fan who tried to rip his sock off during a show in San Francisco. We won’t spoil how that story ends. Just watch the video below to find out.
