A Russian Attack Helicopter Accidentally Fired Rockets at Russian Troops
SALISBURY, ENGLAND - MARCH 19: A Apache helicopter kicks up dust during Exercise Tractable on March 19, 2015 in Salisbury, England. The three-week major exercise involving hundreds of vehicles including Challenger 2, Warrior and FV 432Õs belonging to 1 Yorks and Kings Royal Hussars and more than 1,500 troops is designed to test the Lead Armoured Task ForceÕs ability to deploy at short notice. A Russian attack helicopter was taking part in a training exercise the other day. And the pilots accidentally fired two rockets at a bunch of people who were watching. Including their own TROOPS apparently.
The video is pretty nuts, because the guy with the camera was standing right next to a truck that got hit. The Russian government says the targeting system on the helicopter “mistakenly acquired a target.” It’s not clear if anyone was seriously hurt.
