Teenage Couple Stand in Front of a Carousel, Girl Feeding Her Boyfriend Candy Floss and Laughing

The next time your ex texts you and asks to “catch up” your answer should be a resounding no, for many reasons.

A new study from Oakland University shows that people with “dark personality traits” (read: narcissist or sociopathic tendencies) are more likely to remain connected to their exes for “practical or sexual reasons.”

The study, quoted in The Daily Mail,  surveyed 860 people about if and why they’re still connected with their past partners. The findings illustrated that those with dark personality traits were more likely to maintain a relationship with an ex once the relationship was done than those who weren’t narcissistic or sociopathic.

This may make you reconsider that “friendly” connection you feel obligated to continue with your former boo.
