So does Stone Temple Pilots have a new frontman or not?
The group has reportedly hired John Borja, a Filipino-born singer (can anyone say...Journey?) from among the viral auditions submitted earlier this year. The group is rumored to be working with Borja in Los Angeles to see if he'll fit in properly, but Borja was cagey in an interview with the Radio Republic in the Phillipines; "As of now I can't give full details yet, but there are clues or hints that seem to be favorable to me. Let's wait for them to give the official announcement. I respect the guys' decision, whatever it is. It would be my honor to play music with them."
Borja also called STP's late singer Scott Weiland "irreplaceable" but added that, "I think I can carry his legacy through my personality."
There's been no official word about the matter from the STP camp; guitarist Dean DeLeo and bassist Robert DeLeo have recently been announced as guest counselors for a January Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp in Los Angeles, while Robert toured during the summer with Hollywood Vampires.
