Early Cassette Demos of Nirvana Uncovered, Posted Online!

A musician by the name of John Purkey has a small collection of cassette tapes that appear to be early demo tapes from Nirvana, given to him by Kurt Cobain himself! Purkey claims that one of these tapes is actually one of the band's first demos EVER!

The audio from the cassettes was uploaded to YouTube and you can give them a listen for yourself below!

Nirvana first demo with Dale Crover that Kurt gave to me. Also Montage of Heck

This is the first tape Kurt gave to me. Sound quality is not perfect but it's not too bad. It is listenable. Paper cuts sounds a little warbaly at first and that is exactly how it was when Kurt gave it to me. I got used to it.

second Nirvana demo Kurt Cobain gave me back in 1988

This is the second of four demos that Kurt game me back between 1988 and 1990

The Third Nirvana tape that Kurt Cobain gave me

This was the tape he gave me after they recorded songs for what would become Bleach.

The fourth Nirvana Tape Kurt Cobain gave to me.

Recorded with Chad produced by Butch Vig. I think it is known as the smart studio demo. Kurt started high speed dubbing at the beginning of pay to play. To can hear a slight glitch when he pressed the high speed button.
