Dave “Big Shirt” Nicholls, Sound Engineer For Slipknot, Stone Sour, A7X, Dies

Members of Slipknot, Stone Sour, Avenged Sevenfold and other bands are mourning the death of Dave "Big Shirt" Nicholls, a front-of-house sound engineer who's achieved somewhat legendary status among both musicians and fans.

Nicholls's death was announced on Wednesday (May 24), with no cause or other details revealed. Ironically the announcement fell on the seventh anniversary of the death of Slipknot bassist Paul Gray.

Stone Sour drummer Roy Mayorga posted a memorial to Nicholls on Facebook, including a photo and a note that says, "Deeply saddened and crushed. I love you Dave Shirt Nicholls. I'm going to miss you like crazy. RIP."

A GoFundMe page has been set up on behalf of Nicholls' wife Vanessa to help pay for funeral expenses.
