April 5th, 8 Years Apart

Many events in rock history share the same anniversary, but few anniversaries are quite as tragic as April 5, 1994 and April 5, 2002.

Two voices that helped define a genre, a generation, a changing of the guard…silenced.

It’s no secret that both Kurt Cobain and Layne Staley had their share of problems, but despite them, the “what if’s” left in place of their presence are on par with their deaths themselves.

“It’s better to burn out than to fade away?” Maybe that’s true, but if fading away meant we had more time with these two, then we choose the latter.
