The 20 million dollar vacation will last approximately a week, according to GIZMODO. The journey will take them in one large circular loop around the moon and then back to Earth. With the help of the “not-yet-tested” Falcon Heavy rocket, the private citizens will be launched into orbit.

In a press conference, Elon Musk told reporters (quoted by GIZMODO) that “this is really exciting thing that’s happened. We’ve been approached to do a crewed mission beyond the Moon…[and these passengers] are very serious about it. We plan to do that probably [with the] Dragon 2 spacecraft with the Falcon Heavy rocket.”

Previous to Elon’s announcement, NASA has attempted to do the same thing, but with astronauts. By using a “SLS rocket and the Orion capsule” they were able to be slingshot around the Moon. The experiment was partially funded by SpaceX with the hope to develop the possibility to easily allow humans into space.
SpaceX will send 2 people on a trip around the moon next year Elon Musk promised some SpaceX news today, and it looks like it just made its way out: The company is going to send two people on a trip around the moon. But don't go getting fitted for your spacesuit just yet - the two people have already been picked, and SpaceX says they paid "a significant" (but undisclosed) amount for the privilege. The identities of the two space travelers was left unannounced. SpaceX notes that training will begin later this year (and that they'll say more about who it is once the health tests are cleared). Elon noted that the passengers will be traveling in a Dragon 2 capsule, powered by SpaceX's still-in-design Falcon Heavy rocket. They're going to do four missions before this one, though, all to the International Space Station rather than the moon: three carrying cargo, and one carrying a crew. Worth noting: They won't be landing on the moon - they're going to blast around it and return back to Earth. Either way, this could very well be the furthest any human has gone into space in decades. #pr #techpr #businesspr #spacex #elonmusk #spacetravel #financepr #businessofpr

SpaceX,, in the future, hopes to continue the frequency into space and to even send a crew to land on Mars. With the continued interest humans wanting to be a part of the solar system, this will bring down the cost of space missions. Gwynne Shotwell, SpaceX President, stated that if they create a rocket with a high reusability rate, this decreases launch costs by 30 percent.
This private citizen launch is the “first flight to the Moon with a crew in more than 45 years," according to Futurism. If Elon’s efforts continue, this could be a huge step for humanity to become a part of the world beyond.
