Pearl Jam's season of giving continues with a generous donation to a man who once rescued frontman Eddie Vedder in Hawaii.
Less than a week after Vedder himself gave $10,000 to a needy family in Maryland, his band contributed $70,000 to a GoFundMe campaign for Keith Baxter, who recently lost his leg in a boating accident; Baxter and his daughter Ashley saved Vedder and others after their boat capsized in 2001 while vacationing in Hawaii, an incident chronicled in Pearl Jam's 2013 song "Future Days."
The GoFundMe drive was set up by Kacky Ovrom Chamberlain, who the Baxters also rescued that day. Pearl Jam's contribution doubled the amount raised by the campaign so far.
