Every year I do a different Christmas card and this year is no different. It all started back in 1996, if I recall properly. I was a huge Ozzy fan, and still am, and told my friends that if I ever met the 'Prince of Darkness' that I'd put it on a Christmas card and send it out. Well, I met Ozzy (that's a story for another time) and made the card. I think I sent out about 25 of them, or so. I would swing by friends houses that following summer and they'd have my card on their fridge, or behind their bar, or wherever. So, I did one the following year. I can't remember who was on year 2 but I've done one every year since.
It's always tough to top the previous years card, but I try. Sometimes they work and sometimes....not so much. I try to have a picture and some sort of Christmas reference or saying. I've had KISS on a card one year that said "Merry KISSmas". Kid Rock has been on twice. The second time the idea came to me at 4:30 in the morning. I woke up and wrote the idea down. He had a cigar in his mouth and my photo people superimposed smoke rings around us with H's in front of them. Ho, Ho, Ho!
I've been lucky to have Stone Cold Steve Austin, Nick Lidstrom, who would always text me how much he liked them, Slash, Jeff Gordon, Rob Zombie, and so on. One of my friends has every one of them. I think I might have about 10 or 12. Now, I've started to save every one and have about 200 made each year.
As you can see, this years card is the WWE's Big Show. I had this idea kicking around for the past several months. I sent the idea to my friends at Express Photo in Livonia, who make my cards every year, and they did the rest. I chuckled when I saw it for the first time. Hopefully everyone whose seen it did, too.
I hope you and your family have a great Christmas and 2017 is the best year ever!
