Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers Announce 2017 Tour Dates

Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers will be touring extensively next year to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the band's debut album.

The trek kick off April 20 in Oklahoma City and so far has dates announced through July 27-28 at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, N.Y.; Additional shows, including a West Coast run, are expected to be announced soon.

Tickets go on sale December 16 to the general public, with a pre-sale for the group's Highway Companions Club starting on December 14.

Guitarist Mike Campbell tells us that the Hearbreakers' down-to-earth personalities have allowed the group to endure for the past four decades:

"I think we're really lucky that we don't have any warped egos about it. We tend to be forgiving and understanding about stuff like that 'cause everybody wants to have their artistic creativity to do what they want to do. Any of us can do records if we want to...Anybody could be in the band. Tom is just more prolific and he's the singer and this and that."

The tour announcement comes in conjunction with Friday's (December 9) release of a pair of career-spanning vinyl box sets -- The Complete Studio Albums Volume 1 (1976-1991) and Volume 2 (1994-2014).
