Tom Morello on Prophets of Rage’s “The Party’s Over”

Prophets of Rage -- the all-star teaming of members of Rage Against the Machine, Public Enemy and Cypress Hill -- is taking part in today's (November 25) Record Store Black Friday with a 12-inch vinyl version of its lone brand new song, “The Party's Over."

The song is actually a recasting of the Public Enemy song that gave the politically minded Prophets its name, and guitarist Tom Morello tells us that the new version addresses the need to change and expand America's two-party political system:

"People can't escape the two-party monopoly because they know if they try to do it they get the worst cop. Our message is they're both cops...Taking over a corporate party and making it a people's party, that's a strategy. Another strategy is getting pitchforks and torches and driving those f*ckers into the sea -- and Marshall amps, don't forget those."

"The Party's Over" was also the title of an EP Prophets of Rage released to accompany it's summer Make America Rage Tour. The group is expected to continue touring and release more new music during 2017.
