The rumors proved true; Avenged Sevenfold has released its new album, The Stage, today (October 28) after formally announcing it during a livestreamed concert even on Thursday night (October 27) atop the Capitol Records Tower in Hollywood.
The Stage is the group's seventh studio album and first to feature new drummer Brooks Wackerman and follows 2013's chart-topping Hail To The King. The Stage was co-produced by A7X and Joe Barresi, with 11 tracks clocking in at nearly 74 minutes and songs thematically focused on the idea of Artificial Intelligence and inspired by the writings of Carl Sagan and Elon Musk.
The 15-minute closing track, "Exist," features a spoken word appearance by astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson.
A7X will be opening pop-up shops in New York and Los Angeles this weekend offering limited-edition merchandise related to the new album. Tour plans are expected to be announced soon.
